SEPTEMBER 2010
FROM THE PASTOR
SUNDAY, September 5:
“Big Faith or Little Faith” Do we trust God for the big
things, like salvation and then fail to trust him for
the little things as we worry about the details of life?
Gen. 15:1-6, Heb. 11:1-16 & Lk. 12:22-34 are the lessons
about faith and how to live it out in daily life.
SUNDAY, September 12:
Education Sunday “Building on the Rock together” is our
School Theme for this year. Eph.2:22 reminds us that we
are being built into the dwelling of God. Ponder what it
means to have creator of the universe choose to dwell in
you and live through you.
SUNDAY, September 19:
Faithful stewardship does not simply mean providing
support for the church. Jesus points to the wise use of
all God gives in Luke 16:1-13. Paul speaks of our role
in life as serving God in I Tim. 2:1-15. Amos 8:4-7
reminds us that regular worship does not make us good
stewards if worship does not affect how we live.
SUNDAY, September 26:
There are many things that seek our attention in this
life: family, friends, favorite hobbies, jobs, and the
obsessions that all too often accompany life on this
side of heaven. As with all blessings from God, Satan
often twists their purpose and uses them to distract us
from our relationship with the Giver of all good gifts.
Instead of trusting in the promises that God gives us in
His Word, we often put our trust in our own abilities
and possessions. We risk hardening our hearts and being
led away from God instead of being strengthened and
steadfast in the one true faith. As God's people, we
receive many and varied material things in this life,
but the greater blessing is what awaits us in the life
of faith, eternal life. Amos 6:1-7 (Warning of God's
Judgment)1 Timothy 6:6-19 (Paul urges Timothy to fight
the good fight of faith and resist making money his
god.) Luke 16:19-31 (The Gospel records Jesus' story of
the rich man and Lazarus.)

WOMEN’S MONDAY MORNING BIBLE
STUDY
Do you ever feel discouraged or vulnerable in your
faith walk? Do you need strength to stand up to the
various temptations that are thrown your way everyday?
The Monday Morning Women’s Bible Study will be digging
into the book of Nehemiah as we learn how God desires to
rebuild our faith, and how He can use us to stand in the
gap for others when their walls have collapsed. Join us
each week at 8:30 a.m. at Peg Volzke’s home, as we
“Build on the Rock Together”.
“BUILDING ON THE ROCK TOGETHER ”
This falls Stewardship theme comes from the example
of the children of Israel in Nehemiah chapter 3. We hear
how every person and family began to rebuild the walls
of Jerusalem side by side. In spite of great opposition
and hardship, they finished in 56 days convincing their
enemies that God was with them.
This fall every individual, family, organization,
committee and group in our congregation will be
challenged to build the kingdom of God together.
The school has already chosen Eph.2:22 and the theme
“Building on the Rock Together”. Each group is asked to
prepare a presentation for the bulletin to present in
worship of the mission that you are doing among us and
the goals you have for growing that mission.
During our stewardship month we will build the walls
together in the foyer as everyone and every group is
given paper rocks to place around the walls as we
visually illustrate how important it is to be in
ministry together.

"It is only a tiny
rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine."
"The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I. GOD opens this flower so
easily,
But in my hands they die."
"If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I have the wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?"
"So I'll trust in God for leading
Each moment of my day.
I will look to God for guidance
In each step of the way."
"The path that lies before me,
Only my Lord knows.
I'll trust God to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose."
